Blog Revival, A Return Home

This is a Revival! A New Beginning™! A return to what I once was and did and wanted to become.

Really, that's all hyperbole. It's been over a year since I've updated this blog and I've done a lot of soul-searching in that time. My childhood was such that I didn't have an opportunity to figure out who I am and what I want from life until recently, and it's been a long, confusing struggle to understand myself.

However, I feel like I've made significant strides, recently! I am more comfortable with myself than I have ever been. I am working on my shortcomings and I have chosen directions in my life that are taking me to places I want to be.

One thing that hasn't changed is my love for the written word, and my love for stories.

I am a forever-GM. I'm constantly running games for my game groups, and rarely get opportunities to play in tabletop roleplaying games. And, to tell the truth, that's the way I like it! I prefer to engage in this hobby by taking the lead. I love reading game books, learning the rules, creating the shell of a story, and guiding a group of friends through it, improvising on their contributions. It's so much fun, so fulfilling; I do a lot of it. Currently I'm running one weekly online group (InSpectres), one biweekly group (alternating between Shadowrun 4A and Classic Battletech), one monthly game (Classic Battletech), one play-by-post game of Burning Wheel, one pbp game of The Expanse, and two solo pbp games for one person of Atomic Robo and Vampire the Masquerade 5e. I'm also playing in a game of Band of Blades, and a pbp game of Battletech: A Time of War.

That's a lot of gaming! Sometimes it feels like too much, and other times it feels like not enough. There are so many games to play, so many stories to tell! I know I'll never get to play all the games I'm interested in, or tell all the stories I want to tell in my lifetime. It's just too short, and there are just too many systems and stories. But, that's actually kind of wonderful. Our creativity as Humans has created so much, someone could dedicate their life to exploring it all and never even scratch the surface.

I feel a drive to create. I want to create something that others will engage with. I want to tell stories, but I do not enjoy long-form writing. I love telling stories through the medium of tabletop roleplaying games. So, I'm going to give it a go. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to tell those stories, but I'm going to give it the ole college try! And, I never went to college, so now's as good a time as any to experiment.

I'm rededicating this space to share my journey. Along with wanting to write, I've wanted to publish. I plan on writing and publishing gaming content, though what exact form that will take I could not say. I'm starting a new journey! One that I find very exciting. Stay tuned, and I'll talk at you next time.
